Welcome to the new NAPLeS program from the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany

We welcome the doctoral program (Dr. PSE) from the Ruhr University Bochum to NAPLeS. The program is the first NAPLeS program mainly taught in German with few courses also taught in English. The program welcomes international doctoral students from all over the world.

Now Learning Sciences programs from 31 different universities are NAPLeS members. For more information about the Master’s and PhD programs, please visit the NAPLeS Programs page.



From June 7 to June 11 the 11th International Conference on Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) was conducted by ICLS. The directors, staff and students of many NAPLeS member programs met there and discussed about the future of NAPLeS.

A new task force was founded that is now responsible for moving the webpage content to the new ISLS webpages. The members of this task force are Armin Krauss and Jim Slotta from the University of Toronto, Canada and Gaurav Singh Tomar and the president of the ISLS Carolyn Penstein Rosé from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA.


Downloadable video resources

The recorded webinars and video resources that can be watched at the NAPLeS websites are also available as download files. To get access to those files a personal link must be created.

If you don’t have access to a fast internet connection to download the video files we can send a dvd with the video files to you.

New high quality videos online

We are happy to announce that we have started to upload the first high quality video recordings with the lecturers of the NAPLeS webinar series. The videos are on the same topic as the webinars but are more condensed and of high video and audio quality to support local courses or joint online courses. The material is currently being edited and will be uploaded over the coming months. With each lecturer we recorded a 5-minutes “teaser” and a 15-minutes HD video. In addition, we offer interviews about the role of the respective topic for the broader field of the Learning Sciences. At least 15 topics will be covered in the coming weeks.
